Three simple ways to improve your mental game

If you’re like most baseball players, your winter months are spent taking tons of swings, doing throwing programs, bullpens, ground balls, and other things to get your skill ready for the season. Likewise, you probably also are in the midst of some type of strength and conditioning program. You are lifting weights, working on your speed and quickness, and hopefully staying loose and flexible as well.


Yet when the season begins, your mental game is as — if not more — important than those two areas. When I ask players how important the mental game is, most tell me it’s the most important part of their game. But when I ask them what they do to work on it, I rarely get a satisfactory answer.


Here are three ways to work on your mental game the rest of the offseason:
